What is Executive Coaching?
According to the Executive Coaching Handbook developed by the Executive Coaching Forum, January 2012, Executive Coaching is an experiential and individualized leader development process that builds a leader’s capability to achieve short and long-term organizational goals. It is conducted through one-on-one and/or group interactions, driven by data from multiple perspectives, and based on mutual trust and respect. The organization, an executive, and the executive coach work in partnership to achieve maximum impact for the individual both at an organizational and a personal level.
Executive coaching is used to support the development of current and emerging leaders. Based on the formation of a trusting, one-to-one interactive relationship, coaching helps to identify, focus, and accomplish personal and professional goals much faster than without coaching. As a business owner or leader, investing in coaching will enable you to bridge the gap between where your people are and where you need them to be in order to maximize performance and achieve greater business results.
Executive coaching is a defined process executed by the coach and the individual (coachee) involved in the program. After an initial assessment (360, behavioral etc.), the coach and coachee review the results and create a coaching plan. Through an ongoing trust-based relationship, the coach and coachee have regularly scheduled confidential meetings to measure progress and provide guidance.
